Context
When I built the NxGen BRG (NxGen stands for Next Generation at the Workplace) in a large, multinational enterprise, it was crucial to have a direct and accessible communication and collaboration platform to easily reach out to and connect and engage with BRG members or interested employees without intermediaries or gatekeepers.
Yammer.com is a micro-blogging platform that was fairly new at the time and was set up as an experiment to check out this new technology. The NxGen BRG was a very early user group and the most active on the platform as it allowed us to reach out to employees and engage them in a new way within our company.
